The New Carlsberg Foundation Acquires Solen by Emmarosa Liebgen
Galleri Maria Friis is delighted to announce that The New Carlsberg Foundation has acquired Solen (2025) by Emmarosa Liebgen from her graduation exhibition Afgang 2025 at Funen Art Academy, on view from May to June earlier this year.
In Solen, Liebgen’s practice unfolds with quiet intensity. The oil-on-cotton painting carries figures that seem to rise from the earth itself – part human, part landscape – and exemplifies her intimate, material-driven approach to figurative painting, sculpture, and graphic etching. Her imagery moves between the human and the natural, drifting like unearthed relics or fragments of long-forgotten dreams, forming memories of what has been lost – bodies dissolving into soil, flowers with female faces, silver-framed remnants of things once known.
Liebgen’s debut solo presentation Undercurrents is currently on view at the gallery and runs until 20 December 2025.
