Marie Munk is currently showcasing her artwork “Placenta” (2022) in Örebro as part of OpenArt Sweden 2024. OpenArt Sweden is Scandinavia’s largest biennial for public art, held in the city of Örebro. Founded in 2008, the biennial has grown into a significant cultural event, showcasing contemporary art from around the world outdoors and free to the public. Artworks are displayed in various environments, such as shop windows, building facades, parks, water, and other unexpected locations in the city center.

OpenArt takes place every two years and lasts for twelve weeks, with about 80% of the artworks displayed outdoors and the rest shown indoors in galleries and museums. The event promotes an inclusive approach to art by making it accessible to everyone, challenging traditional, elitist art norms. Participating artists have the opportunity to create large-scale works that challenge the physical perception of their surroundings.

“Placenta” will be floating there until September 8, 2024.
