Orsolya Bagala in duo-show at Ringsted Galleriet
We are delighted to announce that the gallery’s represented artist Orsolya Bagala is a part of the duo exhibition AUTONOMI with Martin Brandt Hansen at Ringsted Galleriet.
The exhibition opens Sunday 24th of August, 12:00 – 16:00.
The exhibition AUTONOMY confronts identity and origin with contradictory and conflict-escalating aesthetic devices. It is high and low, yes and no, smashed together into a muddled maybe. In this immediate, contradictory artistic match – with the stringent, cool display case aesthetics of Martin Brandt Hansen and Orsolya Bagala’s contorted, fiery, gestural painting – there is a shared desire to derail clarity. For both Bagala and Brandt Hansen, their cultural origins are the source of exploration. It is the conceptual versus the expressive, while at the same time borrowing from each other’s artistic “standpoints”. For Bagala, the painting surface can be a pizza tray or a breakfast box. For Brandt Hansen, the display case may contain bulging upper arms from an action figure, raven claws or a mass-produced, contorted mask that points to both cult fetishism and the magic of consumer goods. It is in the repetitive brushstrokes, in the composition, in the juxtaposition of readymades and the work of the hand that a shared belief in the potential of the profane as a link to a complex reality can be found.
