Lina Hashim in group show Hjemland at Vejle Kunstmuseum
We’re pleased to share that Lina Hashim is a part of the group exhibition Hjemland at Vejle Kunstmuseum. The exhibition features Hashim’s works Pentagon #3 (2020) and Who Am I? (2023), which were acquired in 2025. The exhibition opens today, December 11th, 2025.
We all need to belong. To a group. To a culture. To a landscape. In the 19th century, Golden Age artists created idyllic images of what many today associate with “something uniquely Danish”: beech forests, coastlines, storks, farmers, stone cairns.
These images did not arise by chance, but grew out of many difficult years of crises, wars and heartbreaking losses. People sought hope – and the artists found it with their brushes. Their paintings and drawings created an uplifting narrative about the “land of birth” that has coloured generation after generation in Denmark. Today, the world looks different. Contemporary art is putting a new focus on the feeling of belonging and building on the stories of the Golden Age. For how far does a homeland actually extend? “Homeland” is an exhibition about belonging – then and now.
