We’re pleased to share that Lina Hashim will contribute to Copenhagen Contemporary’s 10-year anniversary with excerpts from her performance works The Touch and Odalisque. The performances takes place on Friday and Sunday January 23 and 25th 2026, in Hall 6 at Copenhagen Contemporary, as part of CC10.

The Touch circles around intimacy, power, gaze, and representation; around hesitation, closeness, and the potential of contact. A quiet and intense performance-lecture in which attention and presence are central, and where the body is both speaker and subject.

In the work Odalisque, the audience enters the artist Lina Hashim’s own practice as a female visual artist with a Muslim cultural background. At the same time, the work moves into Western, white art history, where the depicted brown woman is often the odalisque — a silent, seductive, female slave in a harem. Through this work, Hashim seeks to redefine the history that has been told throughout art history and to create a space for retelling the cemented ideology of the erotic harem.

The performances is part of CC10: a three-day festival of performances, talks, and concerts taking place from January 23–25, celebrating Copenhagen Contemporary’s decade-long commitment to experimentation, risk, and care. Throughout the festival, audiences can experience a wide range of artistic formats activating CC’s spaces and fostering encounters between body, sound, movement, and storytelling.
