Käthe Kollwitz: MENSCH nominated for AICA Denmark’s Art Critic Awards
We’re delighted to announce that Käthe Kollwitz: MENSCH, the catalogue published in conjunction with SMK’s exhibition of the same name—showcasing the full breadth of Käthe Kollwitz’s artistry—has been nominated for AICA Denmark’s Art Critic Awards in the category of Art Publication of the Year.
The gallery’s represented artist Stense Andrea Lind-Valdan, has contributed to the publication with her text “Barnet i billedet”. It naturally takes its point of departure in Kollwitz’s artistic practice, but in a broader perspective, it is about images of children, the ontology of images (what images can be said to be), representations of motherhood and feminine forms of desire, and why, as a mother and an artist, one might choose to engage with motherhood and one’s children in one’s art.
