Restless Bones

Sian Kristofersen (b. 1969, Denmark) has studied at The Glasgow School of Arts and The Royal Danish Academy of Arts. She has received Niels Wessel Bagge’s Art Foundation Grant, and her works are part of the collection of the Danish Arts Foundation. Sian Kristoffersen is a well-established artist and has presented her works at several exhibitions. The most recent exhibitions include Pleasure Garden at The Museum of Antiquity, Aarhus, Denmark (2023), Salty Waters, Galleri Maria Friis (2022), The Decembrists, Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art, Copenhagen, Denmark (2022), Jubilee 5, Ringsted Galleriet, Ringsted, Denmark (2022), 3D Female, Viborg Exhibition Hall, Viborg, Denmark (2018), Fetich – Objects of Desire, Holstebro Art Museum, Holstebro, Denmark (2016), and Doll Furious, Tranen, Gentofte, Denmark (2014), to name a few.

Sian Kristoffersen has a rare ability of investigating both form and material by transfusing them with sensibility in a poetic tenor. This makes her work both powerful and emotionally charged.

The unique language of Sian Kristoffersen transpires in fragments, where both a great fragility and a distinct raw strength resides. Several of her works waver between the borders of innocence and danger, they can be objects for play or objects of power with allusions to war-like weapons.
