Vejle Kunstmuseum Acquires Works by Lina Hashim
Galleri Maria Friis is proud to announce that Vejle Kunstmuseum has acquired Pentagon #3 (2020) and Who Am I? (2023) by Danish artist Lina Hashim from her first solo exhibition at the gallery, Fragments of Me. The exhibition was on view from February to April 2025 and marked Hashim’s debut solo presentation at a gallery.
Fragments of Me brought together a powerful selection of works from across Hashim’s practice.The mirror mosaic Who Am I? consists of pieces of mirror in shades of gold, light bronze, and silver, arranged in intricate patterns inspired by Shia mosque decorations. Also included were five illuminated wooden pentagons, inscribed with carved patterns and men’s names, each bearing an image of Hashim. Together they staged shifting portrayals of modesty, sexuality, and identity, challenging traditional representations of the female body.
The works were acquired with the generous support of the New Carlsberg Foundation.
