We’re happy to share that the gallery’s represented artist Nina Saunders solo show Let’s Talk About the Baby is now open at Randers Kunstmuseum.
The exhibition is on view through July 26th.
In her art, Saunders focuses on reusing and transforming old, discarded furniture and objects from the domestic sphere. She is known for her sculptural reworkings of second-hand armchairs and sofas, which she reshapes into twisted, melting forms or into surreal constructions where they merge with stuffed animals, dolls and other objects. Saunders finds the furniture at flea markets and in antique shops. Saunders is fascinated by the traces that past lives have left on these domestic objects, and by the historical and cultural meanings embedded within them. An old patch on an armrest speaks of previous owners’ affection for a well-used piece of furniture; she imagines that a worn stuffed bird was once displayed in a natural history exhibition case.
