Martine Myrup’s Christmas Table for Royal Copenhagen
We’re very proud to share, that Martine Myrup has been chosen as one of the artists chosen to create an annual Christmas Table for Royal Copenhagen, which is running for it’s 62nd consecutive year this year. Under this year’s theme, “The Christmas of Arts and Crafts,” the exhibition presents a compelling combination of artistic installations and table settings, looking both forward and back in time while adding new chapters to the story of Christmas and the historic porcelain manufactory.
“For me, the joy of anticipation is the greatest of all,” Myrup explains. “I primarily associate Christmas with that very special, tingling feeling connected to the long countdown to the holiday—something you only truly experience as a child.” Rather than approaching Christmas as a religious tradition, Myrup embraces it as an abstraction: a time shaped by mood, longing, and collective imagination.
